Improvement meme for a picture I drew back in 2004 and just redrew to see what I could do with it. Back in 2004 that was the best I was capable of. Seems I've improved with art in 8 years

In the original image's defence, this was done on light weight paper that warped after I painted it, and it was primarily done in iridescent and metallic paint which DOESN'T scan. My art has improved besides that though. That's the important thing

That's great! Huge improvement from the original. The shading/highlighting is very natural and excellently done. His arm does, for some reason, seem odd to me. I can't tell if it's his bicep or fore-arm that is throwing me off. Everything else is dead-on though!

It's a bit of both- I worked a lot on that but there's not alot you can do when your paper loses tooth and it's covered in indigo and black pencil stain. I corrected it to the point where if you're not looking at it critically it's fine so I've left it as that. I've learnt with art that you need to cut loses and move on at some point. I'm still learning a lot with art, and that's cool

Perhaps in another 10 years time I can draw this again and get it perfect? Donno. This is the best I can do right now though- actually, I feel like I excelled myself on this one. I had no idea my pencil skills had improved this much till I did this picture ^^ It was really exciting!

looks fantastic, you have done such a jump, I wish I was able to change that much, but raising kids on your own working fifty plus hours...gaming ...seems art is a bit less for me

It's more about how you draw rather than time. I don't really do it the right way. If I did I'd be much further ahead with art than I am now. I just draw alot and the best I can do and you just naturally get better when you try new things. If I tried alot of new things and hammered it in with repetition I'd learn alot faster, or if I did more studies- which I'm gonna do. It's just about making time and using it wisely. It's cool though if you don't have the energy for it now. Your kids aren't always going to be in the way of your hobbies. They'll get older and you'll get more free time. You'll easily pick up where you left off

Thanks ^^ Although the earlier picture was the best I could do at the time, it did have alot of flaws that I couldn't recognise till much later. I suppose I'll look back at art I'm doing now in 10 years time and shake my head XD It's progress for you

My next improvement meme? Heh- It may not be for a while cause I need to get onto doing my comic, but I'm sure there will be another ^^ I do love my old art, but breathing a fresh breath of life into old art is fun

Thank you ^^ I didn't expect this picture to turn out as nice as it did to be frank. I kind of expected that I'd have a similar effect that the old one had but with correct proportions. I guess I've learnt more about colour than I thought though cause updating the background for purple rather than black made SUCH a big difference!

It's not something I want to do too often but both of these pictures I've done this meme for, I was passionate about remaking it. I wouldn't want to do this meme unless I thought I could make past Killy proud of me. Each picture is still its own picture in it's own right, cause both are me at my best when I drew it

You should see the original in person. It's so shinny. I was so proud of it when it was finished

IT just scans SO badly >.<
